The Silent Cry
"The Silent Cry"
40.5 cm. X 51 cm. Acrylic on gessoed board September 2015 I was really inspired by Pop Art when I made this piece. I was looking closely at Roy Lichtenstein's work, I cam across a piece that I loved and I decided to emulate it. I wanted this piece to resemble a little bit of pain in it, which is why I didn't include a mouth to the piece. |
Aztec Eye
"Aztec Eye"
9.25 cm. X 6 cm. Ink on paper October 2015 For this piece I was looking into the Aztec Culture, I was inspired when I seen the aspect of the double headed serpent. I instantly began to think of different ideas. In this case I had the idea to make the serpent the iris of an eye. I wanted to show how people have the eye to see their culture and love it as well as live it. |
The Mask
"The Mask"
(3) 1 ft. X 2 ft. (30.48 cm. X 60.96 cm.) Acrylic on Canvas October 2015 I wanted to keep making a connection to different cultures. In this piece I decided to let African culture be my influence, I came up with different masks and how I would portray them. This piece helps make the connections of these masks to the importance of the culture. Every culture is different in every way, I wanted to connect my last piece to this piece and show that difference. |
Insecurities
"Insecurities"
20.25 in. X. 24 in. (51.44 cm. X 60.96 cm.) Mixed Media (Acrylic & Magazine clippings) November 2015 I was inspired the cubism when I was in the process of making these pieces. I was looking at some of Picasso's pieces and came across various cubist pieces. The whole point of naming this piece "Insecurities" is because the tone of the woman in the piece is various colors. The different colors gives the piece a feeling of being unsure and not comfortable in ones skin. |
Mexico
"Mexico"
Photography December 2015 I was inspired by Jacob A. Riis and his many photographs. I wanted to be able to show the many aspects of Mexico. My goal was to be able to put four different images together to make one image. In doing this I was able to capture different moments that reflected the lives of many people in Mexico and how they spend their time. |
